Description: This book tells the story of the sinking of the “Santa Maria de la Consolacion” off Santa Clara Island in the gulf of Guayaquil, Ecuador, when the ship was intentionally grounded and set on fire to avoid the pirates that were chasing it. It also tells of the discovery and salvage of the wreck (the author was one of the salvors).  Many of the artifacts, coins and bullion bars are pictured.  One of the “Top 75 Books”.
