Description: This book is a well-written overview of underwater archaeology. It includes pictures of many artifacts, coins and cannons in the later editions and has several pages on both the “HMS Looe” wreck and the 1733 Fleet wrecks which the author helped excavate. The author was the Director of the Underwater Exploration Program at the Smithsonian Institution, and actually participated in the search for, and excavation of, several Caribbean shipwrecks. One of the “Top 75 Books”.
