Wilkins, Harold T.

Category: Sunken Treasure
Keywords: Merida, Le Chameau, De Braak, General Grant, Gilt Dragon, Batavia, Grosvenor
Comments: Illustrated
Size: 5.75″ x 9″
Pages: 293
Editions: This book was published by Philip Allan & Co. Ltd., London (1934), in hardback with a dust jacket. The book was also published by E.P. Dutton & Co., New York City (no date) in hardback with a dust jacket. I suspect the UK edition is the first edition since the US edition was “made and printed in Great Britain” and the author resided in the UK.
Description: This book recounts the treasure of the Incas (which the Spanish plundered) and the famous Cocos Island buried treasure…then goes on to describe treasures in North America, Asia and Australia, Africa and Tropical Seas. While the majority of the book is about land treasures, many treasure wrecks are mentioned, including the “Merida”, “Le Chameau”, the “HMS De Braak”, the “General Grant”, the “Gilt Dragon”, the “Batavia”, and the “Grosvenor”. As with all of Harold Wilkins books, it is a little light on the details.
