Category: Sunken Treasure
Keywords: La Galga, 1750 Fleet

Editions: The first edition (not stated) was published by the New Maritima Press, Kitty Hawk, North Carolina (2007), in hardback with a dust jacket.
Description: This book tells the story of the Spanish galleon, “La Galga”, which sank off the Virginia coast in 1750 and may have been the original source of the wild ponies on Assateague Island.  In the late 1990s “La Galga” was the subject of a law suit by the Spanish government which claimed ownership…and the Kingdom of Spain was ultimately awarded the wreck.  However, subsequent research has shown the wreck the Kingdom of Spain was awarded is probably not “La Galga”.
